  1. What is the Diversity & Inclusion Assessment?

The Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Assessment is an online benchmarking tool developed specifically for firms in the construction industry to measure and improve the management of their current diversity & inclusion programs, policies, and practices.

  1. Who developed the Diversity & Inclusion Assessment?

As part of our Culture of CARE program, AGC developed the Diversity & Inclusion Assessment in collaboration with industry experts through the AGC Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee and D&I Assessment Work Group.

How does it work?

Since the Assessment is web-based and dynamic, your company can interact with the data to answer performance-based questions in four key areas of diversity and inclusion:

  • Workplace
  • Workforce
  • Vendors (Subcontractors/Suppliers)
  • Community

Upon completion, you will be able to analyze the results, measure your progress, and download best practice resources to expand your D&I efforts. As the Assessment becomes widely used, your company will also be able to benchmark your practices against other construction firms.

Is the Assessment for individuals or organizations?

The Diversity & Inclusion Assessment should be completed from an organization-wide perspective, not an individual perspective. The Diversity & Inclusion Assessment is intended to evaluate the overall health of your company in the four key areas of diversity & inclusion mentioned above. While the assessment is geared towards construction firms, any organization that works in the A/E/C industry can benefit from the Assessment. In order to accurately complete the D&I Assessment, you may need to involve individuals from across your company to help you accurately answer the questions from an overall organization perspective.

Will the companies that take the Assessment be listed publicly?

No. We will not publish a list of companies that have completed the D&I Assessment.

Will my company’s answers and scores remain confidential?

Yes! The assessment provides an aggregate of the results from all the companies that have taken the Assessment to allow companies to benchmark themselves against other firms. However, no individual company results will be made public. Read our data integrity statement.

Who should respond to the questions on behalf of our company?

The individual with the most responsibility for your company’s diversity and inclusion initiatives and outcomes should respond on behalf of your company. However, it is important that the data is reflective of your company’s actual policies, programs and practices in order to obtain accurate results. To ensure this, you may need to involve individuals from across your company to help you complete the Assessment.

Can I involve more than one person in answering the questions?

Yes. You may either select one person to manage the process and complete the questions, or you may have multiple individuals gain access to the Assessment to complete certain sections or questions in the Assessment. Once an individual has made an initial purchase of the Assessment, instructions will be sent on how to grant additional users access to the Assessment.

Can I view the questions before making a purchase?

Yes, you can access the D&I Assessment and answer all of the questions before making a purchase. Visit www.agc.org/culture-assessment and log in with your AGC username and password to access the Assessment questions.

How much does the Assessment cost?

Any user can access the Assessment and answer all the questions for free. AGC members also have free access to the Assessment results and associated best practices. Non-members must purchase access to the Assessment results and best practices. The non-member price is $325, for access to the Assessment results for 12 months from date of purchase.

Non-members will be required to purchase a new subscription every 12 months to maintain access to both the current year and prior year’s results.

HOW DO i PURCHASE THE ASSESSMENT?

To purchase the D&I Assessment, visit the AGC of America Store and add the D&I Assessment to your cart. If you don’t have an AGC username & password, you will be asked to create one during checkout. Keep this username and password handy as you will need it to access the D&I Assessment after your purchase.

HOW DO i access the assessment after I’ve made a purchase?

Go to www.agc.org/culture-assessment and log in with your AGC username and password to access the Assessment.

What is included in the price of the Assessment?

You will receive the following items as part of your purchase:

  • confirmation of your purchase
  • written instructions about how to get started on your company’s Assessment
  • access to all downloadable reports and graphs with your Assessment results
  • access to all downloadable resources on industry diversity & inclusion best practices and tips for expanding and improving your diversity & inclusion efforts

How long will it take to complete the Assessment?

The Assessment is about 30 questions and should take approximately 30-60 minutes to complete.  However, it does not need to be completed in one sitting. You can save your progress and come back to the Assessment at any time to finish. In addition, once you’ve purchased the Assessment you have the ability to download the complete question set to share with colleagues across your organization and gather accurate data prior to completing the Assessment.

My company has not done much in diversity and inclusion, so is the assessment worthwhile for us?

The Assessment benefits any company with at least one action in diversity and/or inclusion. If you can think of just one action item, then the Assessment will give you insight into how to strengthen or sustain your organization’s commitment.

How long will it take to receive my results?

Once you click the “Submit” button to confirm that you have successfully answered all required questions, you will instantly receive your company’s scores. You will also be able to benchmark your company’s scores against other construction firms and download best practice resources.

Okay, I got my results and have some low scores. Now what?

Don’t let low scores scare you or turn you away. Now that you know your company’s scores, you can identify ways to grow your organization’s diversity & inclusion efforts and measure your progress over time.

The Assessment provides you a scorecard that outlines best practices in each of the four areas you were evaluated on. Use that resource to identify next steps.
